the nations favourite blooms.

UKTV Gardens has joined forces with the Royal Horticultural Society and Dorling Kindersley to carry out a nationwide poll to discover the country’s best-loved blooms. Presented by Joe Swift, this ten part series will reveal the flowers that top the charts in the affections of the great British public. The programmes will examine one category at a time and give a comprehensive and definitive take on each category winner. Each programme will look at two growers, who are regular faces at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and who will share the inside track from their nurseries, as well as looking at their pre-show cultivation.

Aside from the professional growers, a range of celebrity gardening advocates will be waxing lyrical about their passion for particular blooms, from Charlie Dimmock’s love of the daffodil, to Kim Wilde gunning for the geranium. Joe will also meet people, whose passion for a particular plant has led them to fill their gardens with it, giving the series a unique mix of professional and amateur horticultural information.

Scented Flower.
Sweet peas, roses and lavender are top contenders in the scented flower category. Landscape gardener Bunny Guinness talks about her personal favourite.

Indoor Plant.
The cactus, spider plant and African violet are the most common houseplants across the nation. Pippa Greenwood and Diarmuid Gavin talk about their favourites.

Flowering Shrub or Tree.
Lilac, cherry and camellia are among the contenders in the flowering shrub/tree category. Diarmuid Gavin and Roy Lancaster discuss their personal favourites.

Flowering Perennial.
Delphiniums, geraniums and lupins are some of the nation’s favourite perennial flowers. Sven Wombwell and Kim Wilde talk about their personal favourites.

The Bulb.
Revealing the results of a nationwide poll to identify Britain’s favourite flowers. Today, TV gardeners Chris Beardshaw and Dan Pearson champion their favourite bulbs.

Exotic Plant.
From tree ferns to palms, the exotic plants make for an interesting top five. Rosie Atkins, curator of the Chelsea Physic Garden, and Dan Pearson discuss their choices.

Bedding Flower.
Busy Lizzies and marigolds are popular choices, and Plantsman Chris Collins and the equally colourful Charlie Dimmock are advocates for their favourites.

Flowering Climber.
Passion flowers, honeysuckle and wisteria are in the flowering climber category. Pippa Greenwood and Matt James vouch for their choices.

Container Flower.
Pansies and petunias are in the top contenders in the container flower category, but which is Carol Klein most keen on? Chelsea grower Stuart Lockyer has handy tips.

All-Time Top Ten.
Charlie Dimmock, Diarmuid Gavin and Chris Collins and other celebrity gardeners reveal the overall top ten blooms. Will the lily pip the rose to the top spot?

Thank you very much for the effort you put on all the shared contents! You made lots of gardeners a lot happier …
Something bothers me still: filefactory hosting – hourly limit for ddl and, most of all, the “All free download slots are in use” message. I have lots of episodes I’m trying for weeks to download and I get that message all the time…
Do you think it would be very inconvenient for you to use a much friendly host?
Please, don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to criticize you, I’m just trying to solve a problem that is becoming more and more annoying since I’ve discovered your site as the best source for gardening videos on the web!
    Best regards!

As I’ve said before (and often), It’s not that use filefactory because I want to, but because its the only hosting site that meets my criteria. I’ve tried running this site on donations, and it doesn’t work – gardeners are a tight bunch. :) I have site hosting to pay for, domain names to pay for, 2 file hosts to pay for (one to post, one for backup), a newsgroup subscription, and a rapidleech server that isn’t essential but makes life easier (BTW, the bill for that needs paying by the end of the week, $50 for 6 months), and thats not to mention the actual work that goes into site.

The only tangible return this site brings is in the reward system filefactory offers – and that, on a good day, might be $0.60, but it adds up and over a year it just about covers a couple of bills.

I really am sorry filefactory is a pain for some users, but until I find something better its the only thing keeping this site going.

There is always the option of buying a 1-day premium subscription every few weeks and downloading everything you want then?

Well, I understand your reason now, but I still hate FF; there are series that I’m trying to complete for more than a month now and I still have 2 or episodes missing of each :( That’s it, I keep on trying …
The minimum subscription on FF premium is 30 days for 12$; it’s not much, but I still won’t buy any service of this kind. I would rather donate that amount to this site …
Anyway, thanks again for your effort! We all love you for bringing all these goodies to us!

Dont spend any money just yet. Use the contact form to let me know which ones you have a problem with and I’ll add some turbobit mirrors, lets see what they are like. :)

Dear JD, any chance to re-check episode 06 on netload link? I downloaded it (twice) and it’s smaller then the others, so i can’t extract the file, said it had unexpected error. The others are just fine. If you can’t fix it it’s ok, it is a very good show anyway. Thank you,
            Peace & Love

Try that Johny – it was corrupted.

    Should be ok now. :)

    Thanks for letting me know.

There are two useful sites that may prove to be a viable alternative for you JD, particularly for free downloads. They are Putlocker.com and Billionuploads.com.. I have used both extensively for uploads over the past couple of years and never had a problem (touch wood)..

    Hope that helps
