Season 2 Complete.
Ep1: The documentary series returns as early spring arrives in Clondeglass, and Dermot O’Neill continues his bid to restore a Victorian walled garden. Plus, he visits a friend’s snowdrop-filled outdoor space at Bellefield House, introduces co-gardener Fiann O Nuallain and launches his Save the Spud campaign.
Ep2: Dermot O’Neill rescues hens to replenish his stock at a Rescue Centre in Wexford as April arrives, and the gardener receives a helping hand as children from the local school descend on Clondeglass to sow the thousands of wildflower seeds in the meadow.
Ep3: The June rain brings growth to Clondeglass, causing the garden to become overgrown in presenter Dermot O’Neill’s absence. On his return he enjoys lunch with local forager Mary Bulfin, who cooks up a treat using ingredients sourced from the hedgerows, and Fiann O Nuallain shows off his work at Bloom in the Phoenix Park.
Ep4: Dermot O’Neill visits Kilmacurragh Botanic Gardens to see the stunning 100-year-old meadow and Himalayan plant-filled borders. He also visits Tallaght to offer June Rodgers advice on pruning her raspberry bushes, and at Dublin’s Tall Ships Festival both he and Fiann O Nuallain lend a helping hand as the National Potato Day is celebrated. Meanwhile, the meadow in Clondeglass is struggling against the summer rain, and though some of the plants have germinated others have been washed away.
Ep5: The true extent of the damage caused by the June rains is revealed as Fiann discovers the entire heritage potato crop has been wiped out by blight. However, he and Dermot are not perturbed by this and set up a `Save the Spud’ campaign at the Coco Markets in Dun Laoghaire. The duo must also replenish the Potager area by the cottage in Clondeglass and Dermot travels to Glenveagh’s walled garden for inspiration, before the pair share a cider root stew.
Ep6: Colder days begin to creep in as Autumn arrives in Clondeglass, and Dermot O’Neill makes a chutney out of apples and the potager paths are finally completed. He enjoys the seasonal colours at his friend’s bay garden in Wexford, and his October trip takes him to the Borromean Islands in Lake Maggiore, Italy. Last in the series.
