After weeks of wet mud, Alan Titchmarsh 's herbaceous border is recovering and perennial plants are going in. Joe tries to like conifers during a visit to a pinetum and plants a cryptomeria in the border. Meanwhile, coastal winds are adding to the problems of a chalky garden that has only eight inches of top soil. Chris Beardshaw meets the woman rising to its challenge.
