Amateur garden designers compete to showcase their talents at the 2013 Bloom Festival. This year's plots are based in Dublin, Galway, Limerick, Kildare and Monaghan.
Ep01 - Oisín Griffin is a 25 year old graduate landscape architect from Roscommon trying to fulfil his ambition of developing a creative and horticultural career in Ireland. Oisín will be creating his Supergarden in Dublin. He has plans for a fire theme that will impress, adorned with bold steel structures.
Ep02 - Nathan Nokes, 49, lives in Athenry, Galway with his partner Lucy and their 5 year old son Luke. Nathan has worked in the construction industry for most of his life. Since moving to the west he has worked predominantly as a carpenter on major projects in Galway City. He is passionate about organic gardening/permaculture/up-cycling generally and has always kept an allotment. Nathan Nokes wants to create a beach garden with a Home by the Sea theme.
Ep03 - Lisa McKnight is a busy self-employed mother of three from Bunratty. She has worked in the horticultural industry since graduating from UCD in 1989 with a degree in Agriculture Science. Lisa plans to impress with an architecturally impressive combination of garden rooms, complete with romantic planting and furnishings.
Ep04 - Third time is definitely the charm for our Monaghan designer Declan McKenna (22) as he finally makes it onto Supergarden after three years applying. Despite his age he has a lot of knowledge and experience in horticulture. Declan plans to build a Chinese themed space complete with rivers, tea house and moon gate.
Ep05 - Amelia Raben (45) lives with her husband Alex and their three children in Kildare. After 12 years working in administration, she has decided to turn her attention to her lifelong passion of gardening and pursue a change of career into the world of horticulture despite having no formal training. Amelia wants to create 2 rooms, a kitchen (for vegetables) and an outdoor Mediterranean dining room.
